Just how popular has online dating become over the past few years? Here’s a hint, more than half the singles that are in the United States have admitted to trying an online dating site of some sort. See about 5 or 6 years ago if you were to ask someone if they have tried dating online, they may have looked at you like you were crazy or out of your mind. But with the number of dating sites growing every single day, along with the big promotions from some of the major sites, this idea doesn’t seem all that crazy at all.
Many of the paid sites really want you to succeed. They make money off of you yes, but many of them have match making features, that will try to hook you up with someone that is most compatible with you. Now try getting that to happen by picking up someone random at a bar.
Sure you can still look offline, you may meet someone that shares the same interest with you at a concert, or a bookstore, but when you consider online dating, you can really get the chance to know someone before actually meeting them in person.
Another benefit to this, is that it will take away the awkwardness of that first date, especially useful for those that have problems breaking the ice, and don’t want to get a couple drinks in you to make yourself talk more. Now I know not everyone needs to have a drink to be talkative, but that is the case for me, and that is another reason why I always liked online dating, because you can learn so much about the person prior to actually meeting face to face, making it easier to initiate a good conversation.
Now like I had stated earlier in this article, online dating is only going to continue to grow. There are even some beta virtual dating systems that are out there, where you can actually go on computer dates. Though this is a little bit pricey right now, but I can really see this being the future of online dating. As more developers and computer programmers get more efficient with this technology, it will become more popular and easier to access, along with being easier on your wallet.
Just make sure that if you are thinking about trying out internet dating, is that you have to use common sense. This should be pretty simple, don’ t do things like give out your personal information, your house number, or even your phone number, until you think that you have a good amount of trust.
Remember there are creeps everywhere, not just online, but walking down the street and having a beverage at the local bar, in my opinion if you play your cards right, you can lessen the risk of hooking up with a creep by learning more information about them.
